How to use SpBuilder
SpBuilder is a tool to help you design your Etoro copy trading portfolios. It compiles historical data from Etoro to give you a an idea of the performance of adding popular investors to your portfolio. People new to Etoro can see what copy trading can achieve while people already with an Etoro portfolio can use it to play around and balance their portfolio.
Setting up the portfolio
The first step to building your portfolio is setting the time frame. The time frame is how far back you want to gather data on your portfolio. This can be in either Months or Years. In this example we’ve set it to the last 12 months:
The next step is to add the popular investors to your portfolio. You just need to enter their username, how much you want to copy them with and how you want to copy them. The one time investment option means that the amount you enter will be once at the start of the time frame. The Monthly Investment option means that the amount you enter will be added to the copy every month of the time frame. This example shows a copy of Jaynemesis with a one time investment of $500.
View Performance
Once you have entered all of your copies you can start analyzing how your portfolio has performed. The table at the center of the page shows how your portfolio has changed over your time frame. Broken down by popular investor it shows the changes to your investments by percentage and actual amount.
SPBuilder currently does not take into account dividends or costs from leveraged positions. This information is harder to obtain from Etoro, hopefully one day they will make it easier and I can include it :)
The next section shows the combined results of your investment:
The final section displays analysis on the individual trades of on the popular investors you have included. This is based on the largest amount of information I can currently get from Etoro which is 2 years. This information is very helpful for balancing your portfolio between popular investors with different strategies.
In the example below you can see the difference between jaynemesis’s and Wesl3y’s trading strategies. Wesl3y makes significantly less trades than jaynemesis but holds them for much longer.
I hope you found this guide and SpBuilder useful. New ideas for the builder are always welcome, feel free to leave them here as comments or use the contact form :)
